Edo PRP Congress Postponed Amid Delegate Dispute

The Edo State chapter of the People's Redemption Party (PRP) has indefinitely postponed its congress, which was originally scheduled to commence at 10:00 AM on Saturday, due to sharp disagreements among party stakeholders regarding the voter registration process. The delay was announced by Yakubu Paul, the chairman of the electoral committee, who stated that the decision was made after consulting with the party's national secretariat, which approved the postponement to allow for rescheduling.

The crisis arose from the party's failure to conduct ward and local government congresses prior to the state congress. Faction members loyal to the incumbent state chairman, Greg Igbinomwanya, claimed that 344 individuals were captured in the party's registration as eligible voters.

However, another group rejected this position, alleging manipulation of the registration process. Aggrieved member Adam Erunmwuns accused the leadership of losing credibility and claimed that the chairman was attempting to influence the process to secure his return to office, while Dr.

Igbinomwanya dismissed these allegations, maintaining the authenticity of the registration content.
