Edo Queens Awarded ₦50 Million for WAFU B Victory

Edo Queens were awarded a ₦50 million cash reward by the Edo State Government for their triumph in the 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League. Governor Monday Okpebholo announced the reward on September 8 during a reception in Benin City, celebrating the team's successful campaign in Burkina Faso.

Upon returning to Edo State, the players and officials were welcomed with a victory parade along Airport Road to Osadebe Avenue, where they were greeted by the governor and supporters. Okpebholo commended the players for their resilience and fighting spirit, expressing confidence in their ability to overcome Ghana's Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the final.

Edo Queens won the match 4-1 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time, securing their place to represent the WAFU B zone at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League. The governor pledged ongoing support for the team and opportunities for player development.
