Edo State Rescues Three Victims of Human Trafficking

The Edo State Migration Agency, led by Director Hon. Lucki Agazuma, successfully repatriated three trafficked individuals from Burkina Faso, including a young woman who lost her sight due to severe abuse.

This operation was initiated after Nigeria's Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Muhammad Danladi, alerted the Edo State government about the plight of stranded indigenes. Governor Mondai Okpebholo ordered immediate intervention.

The victims were deceived into traveling to Burkina Faso with promises of employment but were instead forced into prostitution and subjected to brutal treatment. One victim's condition required urgent medical attention due to the abuse she suffered.

The agency is now appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the families of the victims, particularly one with visual impairments reportedly living in Uselu, Edo State. Efforts to rehabilitate the victims are underway, and investigations into the trafficking network are ongoing.
