EFCC Charges UNIBEN Staff with N3.2m Salary Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Segun Bode Adedeji, a staff member of the University of Benin, at the Edo State High Court on charges of salary fraud amounting to N3,285,396. The EFCC's investigation revealed that Adedeji allegedly received salaries from both the University of Benin and the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Benin City simultaneously.

The case was brought before Justice E.G. Adekanmbi.

Additionally, the EFCC is handling a separate case involving Abubakar Muhammad, who was arraigned for money laundering involving N650 million, and Bilal Muhammad, the Chief Executive Officer of GDF Home Sale Enterprises Ltd, who faces charges of obtaining money under false pretenses amounting to N500,000. Both defendants pleaded not guilty, and the court has set trial dates for June 2026.
