EFCC Arrests TikToker for False Kidnap Claims

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested TikToker Udoma David Ekeh, known as davysoft231, for allegedly making false claims about a kidnapping incident in a video posted in late December 2025. The video suggested that EFCC officials were unable to handle a kidnapping situation during a raid in Kwara State, insinuating that bandits demanded a ransom for the release of an officer.

The EFCC's Ilorin zonal director, Dr. Suleiman Haruna, stated that Ekeh's video misled the public, incited fear, and misrepresented the agency's ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud.

The video garnered significant attention, with 6,526 likes, 533 comments, and 138,800 views. Following preliminary investigations, it was revealed that Ekeh was also involved in a romance scam using a Facebook account impersonating a foreign name.

He is expected to face prosecution in court soon.
