Senator Adeola Faces Probe for Distributing Over 100 Transformers as Birthday Gifts

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known as Yayi, is facing scrutiny from the EFCC and ICPC for gifting 102 transformers to 435 communities in Ogun State as part of his 56th birthday celebration. The Civic Technology Group accused the senator of misleading the public by claiming the transformers were funded personally when they were actually financed by the federal government.

The group raised concerns about the misuse of taxpayer money and potential political gain ahead of the 2027 elections. Questions have been raised about the competence of government agencies involved in the project execution, such as the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).

Adeola has denied any wrongdoing, emphasizing his focus on constituency projects and political influence in the state.
