Adeleke Accuses EFCC of Plotting to Freeze Osun Accounts

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of plotting to freeze the state government’s accounts in the lead-up to the August 15, 2026, governorship election. This allegation was made in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi.

Adeleke claimed to have received credible reports indicating that the EFCC intends to freeze not only the state government accounts but also those of top government officials. He described such actions as lawlessness and asserted that there is no legal basis for the EFCC to undertake such measures, emphasizing that the agency lacks the legal authority to freeze a state government’s accounts.

The governor is seeking re-election under the Accord Party against Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress. He has previously raised concerns about political pressures aimed at undermining his administration as the election approaches.

As of the report's filing, the EFCC had not responded to these allegations.
