Accord Party Challenges EFCC Over Osun Account Freezing

The national leadership of Accord Party, led by National Chairman Chief Maxwell Mgbudem, condemned the alleged freezing of the Osun State Government’s accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The party described this action as unlawful and politically motivated, occurring just days before the August 15 governorship election.

Accord alleged that the EFCC acted without a court order and intends to challenge this in court. The party expressed concerns that this development could disrupt government activities and escalate political tensions in Osun State.

Additionally, Accord criticized the conduct of security agencies, particularly the police, for allegedly harassing and detaining its members and supporters. The party appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free and fair election, urging security agencies to operate within the law.

Accord also called for the release of detained members and emphasized the need for elections to be conducted without intimidation or violence, reaffirming support for incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
