EFCC Dismisses Over 40 Staff for Corruption Under Olukoyede

Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), revealed that since he took office, more than 40 staff members have been dismissed due to corruption and financial malpractice. During a briefing at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, he noted that over five of the dismissed personnel are currently undergoing prosecution, with additional case files being prepared for others.

Olukoyede emphasized that the EFCC would not protect its personnel from prosecution for corrupt practices, stating that they should be held to the same standards as those they investigate. He also announced the renaming of the Department of Internal Affairs to the Department of Ethics and Integrity to enhance internal accountability.

Furthermore, a new gift policy has been developed to ensure transparency among EFCC personnel, requiring them to declare assets above a certain threshold and specifying acceptable categories of gifts. Olukoyede underscored the importance of integrity in the fight against corruption.
