EFCC Seals Malami's Properties Amid Corruption Allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed properties belonging to Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, located in Maitama, Abuja. This action occurred on Monday, March 23, 2026, amidst protests regarding the validity of the documents presented by the EFCC.

Malami has challenged the court order that allowed the EFCC to mark his properties, claiming it was done without a valid court order as the matter is still pending in court. The EFCC insists it acted on a court order granted for the interim forfeiture of the properties.

Concurrently, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) announced plans to arraign former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on allegations of financial malfeasance. Malami faces multiple charges related to concealing the unlawful origin of substantial sums of money, including N1,014,848,500 and N600,013,460 across various bank accounts, with allegations dating back to 2021 and extending to 2025.
