Eguavoen Named Interim Coach for Super Falcons

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Augustine Eguavoen as the interim head coach of the Super Falcons for the upcoming LA 2028 Olympic Games qualifying matches. Eguavoen, a former head coach of the Super Eagles, will oversee the team as they prepare to face Comoros in October.

This appointment comes in the wake of Justine Madugu's resignation, with the NFF actively seeking a permanent head coach for the senior women's national team. Christopher Danjuma, who currently coaches Amazons in the Nigeria Women's Football League, will serve as one of Eguavoen's assistants, bringing experience from his recent role with the Falconets at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica.

Ayisat Yusuf, a former Super Falcons defender with 68 international caps, will also join the coaching staff, alongside Olatunji Baruwa, a former goalkeeper trainer with various national teams. The coaching team has been assembled specifically for the qualifying fixtures as the NFF continues its search for a long-term head coach.
