Barau Calls for Unity and Peace Ahead of 2027 Elections

In a message delivered through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau, the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, called on Nigerians to promote unity during the Eid-El-Maulud celebration. He encouraged Muslims to reflect on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), highlighting virtues such as compassion, patience, justice, honesty, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.

Senator Barau emphasized that honoring the Prophet involves emulating his noble character in daily life. He urged all Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country, particularly for lasting peace, security, unity, and progress, as the nation faces various challenges.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, he appealed to political leaders and citizens to prioritize Nigeria's interests over partisan politics, advocating for decorum and respect for democratic values while avoiding hate speech and violence that could threaten national unity.
