Eight Charcoal Workers Abducted in Plateau State

On Tuesday evening, eight charcoal workers were abducted by gunmen in Nyalun, located in the Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims were returning home after processing charcoal when the assailants, who were in a vehicle, suddenly stopped them and took them away.

Youth leader Shapi Sambo confirmed the incident on Wednesday, noting that the kidnappers initially abducted ten individuals but later released two. The victims were identified as Hassan, Sa Idu, Shamsudden, Abubakar, Usamatu, Yakubu, Dayyabu, Usman, Waziri, Inkilulu, Dauda, Ado, Sambo, Sule, Dahiru, Umar, and Amadu Sambo.

The kidnappers are believed to have taken the victims to Kukawa Bush, a known hideout for criminal groups. The victims were instructed to inform the owner of the vehicle to sell it and pay the ransom.

This incident follows a recent pattern of kidnappings and banditry in the area, which has also seen violent incidents, including the killing of a soldier.
