Eight Feared Dead in Kebbi Farmers-Herders Clash

A violent clash between farmers and herders in Gulma Town, Argungu Local Government Area, Kebbi State, has resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals. The incident reportedly began when a farmer allegedly stabbed a Fulani herder to death while working on farmland.

This act sparked a reprisal from members of the farming community, who allegedly stormed a nearby Fulani settlement. The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, confirmed the violence occurred around 3:00 PM on Monday.

Security operatives swiftly intervened to contain the situation and prevent further loss of life. Usman disclosed that four individuals were injured and have since been rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment.

The situation is currently under control, and security personnel have been deployed to maintain peace and prevent further breakdown of law and order. The police spokesperson urged residents to remain calm and to channel grievances through appropriate authorities rather than resorting to violence.
