Farmers and Herders Clash in Kano, 12 Injured

A violent clash occurred in Kano, resulting in twelve injuries among farmers and herders. The incident took place in Jigawa Ward, involving a farmer from Gadan Sarki Village and a herder from Majawa Karad Village.

The conflict began when a cow strayed into the farmer's field and damaged crops, prompting the farmer to strike the cow. The cow's owner retaliated, leading to an escalation of violence.

Balarab Ado, the chairman of Warawa Local Government, confirmed the incident and stated that he would cover the medical bills of the injured victims at Wudil General Hospital until their recovery. He commended community leaders and security agencies for their swift intervention in restoring calm.

Hon. Lamido Sunusi Ahmad urged residents to refrain from spreading rumors and to engage in dialogue to ensure lasting peace and coexistence in the area.

CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa from the Kano State Police Public Relations Office stated that they had not received reports of the violence but promised to investigate.
