Eight Men Gang-Rape 16-Year-Old in Anambra State

In Anambra State, a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped by eight men, including her guardian, in the Nawfia community of Njikoka Local Government Area. The incident was reported to the State Commission for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, where Esther Onyekesi expressed outrage over the trauma the victim endured.

The victim, whose name is withheld, is confirmed to be two months pregnant due to repeated sexual assaults. The case was brought to the commission's office in Awka on a Thursday, where Onyekesi pledged to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The commission condemned the act as unacceptable, emphasizing the need for men to protect women and young girls rather than exploit them. The victim disclosed that her guardian's wife was unable to intervene due to health issues.

The Nawfia Police Station has arrested two of the eight suspects, while six remain at large. Additionally, a deceased sexagenarian woman named Victoria Adegok was found abandoned nearby, raising further concerns in the community.
