PDP's Oluyede Withdraws Petition, Backs Tinubu for 2027

Dr. Wole Oluyede, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the June 20, 2026, Ekiti State governorship election, has officially withdrawn his legal petition against the election results, which declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner with 319,224 votes to Oluyede's 40,543 votes.

Oluyede's decision to discontinue the legal challenge is based on a broader national interest and a desire to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign for 2027. He emphasized the importance of statesmanship and the need for political engagement ahead of the upcoming elections.

Oluyede clarified that his withdrawal was not influenced by any financial inducements and expressed a commitment to ensuring that the electoral process is thoroughly examined to strengthen voter participation and grassroots mobilization. He also dismissed rumors of a financial settlement with the APC, stating that his actions were guided by integrity and the need for political unity in Ekiti State.
