Oyebanji Disburses N105m to Flood Victims in Ekiti

On Thursday, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, represented by his Deputy Chief Monisade Afuye, distributed cash and materials worth N105 million to 159 victims of rainstorms and floods across the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State. The relief package included roofing sheets, bags of cement, roofing nails, food items, planks, and other consumables.

Oyebanji urged residents to heed warnings from the Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET) regarding flooding risks and to take preventive measures such as clearing drainages. He expressed concern over the increasing occurrences of rainstorms and flooding, attributing them to negligence by property owners.

The governor highlighted the government's commitment to the welfare of Ekiti citizens, noting that since 2022, a total of N460.8 million has been allocated to assist rainstorm victims, alongside N184.6 million for fire disaster victims. He called for collective efforts to prevent future disasters and restore lost properties.
