ADC Demands Arrest of Kuje Chairman for Threatening Voters

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Kuje Area Council Chairman, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, for allegedly threatening residents to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) or leave the council area. ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, condemned Shekwolo's statement as a “threat of forced displacement” violating Sections 40, 41, and 42 of the Nigerian Constitution.

The ADC connected Shekwolo's remarks to APC Senator Francis Fadahunsi's previous threats against opposition voters during the Osun governorship election and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's comment on July 29 that “all is fair in politics.” The ADC urged the Inspector-General of Police and the Department of State Services to arrest Shekwolo without delay, emphasizing that his comments threaten the safety and welfare of Kuje residents. The ADC also called on the National Peace Committee to act promptly, warning that inaction could lead to dire consequences by the 2027 elections.
