Senator Abaribe Makes U-turn on Motion for Individual Vote on Electronic Transmission of Election Results

In a recent Senate session, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe initially proposed a motion for individual voting on the issue of electronic transmission of election results. However, he later made a U-turn and withdrew the motion amidst mild drama on the Senate floor.

The Daily Post reported that Abaribe's motion was surrounded by intense debate. Senate President Akpabio insisted on a Senate-wide vote, and when Abaribe announced the withdrawal of his motion, Akpabio declared that no second was needed for the motion to be withdrawn.

The Senate President then proceeded to ask the Senators to vote on the clause mandating real-time electronic transmission of election results.
