Emirates Airlines Bans Power Bank Usage on Flights, Announces Implementation Date

Emirates Airlines announced a new safety regulation banning the use of power banks on flights starting from October 1. The decision was made after a thorough safety investigation to reduce the risk associated with incidents involving lithium batteries on airplanes.

Passengers will now be allowed to carry only one power bank with a capacity of up to 100 watts-hours. The airline emphasized that the primary reason for the rule change is to prevent incidents linked to lithium batteries, as many power banks lack safeguards against overcharging.

Emirates aims to ensure that cabin staff can respond promptly to any power-related situations by prohibiting the use of power banks during flights and mandating their storage in easily accessible areas. This change comes as Emirates Airlines resumes flight operations in Nigeria following a diplomatic agreement with the UAE government.
