NCC Advocates Edo Model to Enhance Telecom Services

During a breakfast meeting with journalists in Abuja on October 26, 2023, Dr. Amimu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), called on state governments to adopt the successful model implemented by Edo State in road construction.

This model requires contractors to notify the NCC and mobile network operators (MNOs) before commencing construction work. The proactive communication has led to a significant decrease in incidents affecting telecom services during road construction activities.

Dr. Maida emphasized the importance of quality service delivery in the telecommunications sector and noted that the NCC is committed to improving service quality across Nigeria.

He highlighted that last year, the sector saw investments of $3 billion, with 3,000 site upgrades and a total of 12,000 sites planned for enhancement. The NCC aims to ensure that telecom services meet consumer expectations and that operators are held accountable for service quality.
