Tinubu Calls ASUU Strike Absence an Answer to Prayers

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu expressed that the lack of strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is an answer to his prayers during a meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. He recognized the economic hardships Nigerians have faced but asserted that stability is returning and prosperity is on the horizon.

Tinubu noted that since he assumed office in May 2023, there have been no prolonged ASUU strikes, which he cited as a significant improvement for Nigerian families. He highlighted that students can now complete their four-year courses in the designated time, contrasting this with ASUU's history of strikes that resulted in over five years of lost academic time between 1999 and 2022, including a nine-month strike in 2022.

Additionally, he mentioned the launch of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as part of his administration's efforts to enhance the education sector.
