Engineers Urge Government to Fund Modern Facilities

Engineers from Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Ado Ekiti have called on the Nigerian government to increase investment in modern engineering learning facilities. This appeal follows the return of 37 engineering students and two lecturers from a hands-on training program at Zhejiang Polytechnic University in Hangzhou, China.

Provost of ABUAD's College of Engineering, Professor Mose Onibonoj, stated that the program exposed students to advanced engineering technologies and industrial practices that are largely unavailable in Nigeria. The students participated in a three-month theoretical component in Nigeria before integrating into the Chinese learning environment, where they received training in various advanced technologies. 500-level mechanical engineering student Adeniji Opeyemi described the experience as life-changing, enabling practical application of classroom theories.

Judith Obioha, a 500-level mechatronics student, noted the importance of sufficient equipment for practical experience. The program aims to strengthen international collaboration and equip graduates with skills in intelligent manufacturing and robotics.
