FG Urges Students to Embrace AI and Digital Skills

The Federal Government of Nigeria called on students to embrace artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, and other digital skills to prepare for the global knowledge economy during the Renewed Hope Students’ Engagement and Digital Acceleration Programme held on Friday at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Selected students received laptop computers to support their digital learning and innovation.

Dr. Kingsley Udeh, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, represented by Dr.

Ijeoma Eze, emphasized the need for Nigeria to invest in innovation and technology to compete globally. He stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration aims to transform Nigeria into a competitive, innovation-driven economy through various educational initiatives, including NELFUND and HOPE-EDU.

Udeh also launched the third phase of the YouthCred initiative, offering collateral-free loans to young entrepreneurs. He encouraged students to utilize technology for national transformation and urged collaboration among universities, research institutes, and industries to commercialize research findings.
