NSCDC Arrests Woman for N6.1m Job Scam in Enugu

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested Mrs. Serah Uchechukwu Onyemerela for allegedly swindling 16 job seekers out of N6,139,000 in Enugu. The Commandant of NSCDC, Dr Elijah Willie, reported that the suspect promised job opportunities at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH).

The scam involved collecting N306,000 from each of the 16 victims. Notably, two complainants, Mrs Love Nnenna Onyema and Mrs Chidimma Ubah, reported losses of N770,000 and N424,500, respectively, totaling N1,194,500.

The suspect had been evading arrest by various security agencies until she was tracked down by a resourceful officer. Dr Willie emphasized the importance of vigilance among job seekers to avoid falling victim to such scams.
