Police Arrest Fake Doctor in N500,000 Job Scam

The Cross River State Police Command arrested 39-year-old Udeme Emmanuel Ekpeme for allegedly posing as a medical doctor and defrauding Mrs. Edemawan Samuel of N500,000.

Ekpeme reportedly promised to secure employment for her children at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital. The arrest occurred following a complaint lodged by Samuel, leading to an investigation by officers from the Uwanse Division in Calabar South Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson ASP Sunday Eitokpah confirmed that preliminary investigations indicated Ekpeme used false representation to deceive the complainant. Relevant exhibits linked to the alleged offences were recovered, and Ekpeme remains in police custody.

Commissioner of Police Rashid Afegbua has instructed investigators to conduct a thorough probe to uncover the full extent of Ekpeme's activities and identify any other potential victims or accomplices. The suspect will be arraigned in court if sufficient evidence is established after the investigation.
