Enugu State to Distribute Inputs to 63,000 Farmers

The Enugu State Government, led by Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Patrick Ubru, is set to distribute agricultural inputs to 63,000 smallholder farmers to boost agricultural productivity for the upcoming farming season.

This initiative was approved by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi and aims to provide free agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, rice seeds, maize seeds, and pepper and tomato seeds. The distribution will commence on July 21, with the state government ensuring that the beneficiaries are registered smallholder farmers whose farms have been monitored.

Last year, 40,000 farmers benefited from a similar program, and this year's initiative is expected to be even larger and more effective. The Enugu State Executive Council has directed that the distribution be strictly monitored to ensure that the identified farmers receive the benefits intended to improve their livelihoods.
