Eric Dane, the acclaimed actor famous for his roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and "Euphoria," died at the age of 53 on Thursday afternoon, surrounded by family. According to a statement, he is survived by his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.

Dane was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in April 2025, a rare degenerative condition that leads to muscle paralysis. He expressed his fears about the disease, recalling the loss of his father to suicide when Dane was just seven years old.

His career, spanning three decades, included notable roles such as Dr. Mark Sloan in "Grey's Anatomy" from 2006 to 2012 and Captain Tom Chandler in "The Last Ship." More recently, he played Cal Jacob in "Euphoria," a role that introduced him to a new generation.
