EU and Partners Support Yobe's Long-Term Recovery Efforts

The European Union, Swiss Government, French Development Agency (AFD), and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), along with other partners, are backing Yobe State's shift from humanitarian relief to long-term recovery. A technical mission from July 5 to 10, 2023, involved representatives from the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, ECOWAS, and various development agencies.

The mission aimed to review donor-funded interventions and engage with local government officials and community leaders to assess projects focused on providing durable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and strengthening livelihoods. Key discussions included the alignment of donor funding with the state’s recovery agenda.

The mission also inspected proposed sites for EU-supported projects and emphasized the importance of a coordinated, locally-led approach to enhance resilience and resource management in conflict-affected communities. Massimo De Luca, head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria, underscored the EU's commitment to supporting Yobe State's recovery efforts.
