DSS Praised for Successful Rescue of Oyo Abductees

Former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin (retd), commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for its strategic role in the rescue of 46 teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. In a statement obtained in Osogbo on Monday, Petinrin noted that the DSS's contributions to the victims' safe release had received little public recognition.

He emphasized that the successful operation was primarily due to intelligence efforts by the DSS, which had largely gone unnoticed. Petinrin reiterated the importance of intelligence gathering in security operations, stating it is foundational for military interventions.

He praised President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Minister of Defence Moham Badaru, Chief of Defence Staff General Christoph Musa, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Director General of DSS Adeola Ajayi for their roles. The DSS's restraint in handling the operation prevented potential casualties among the abductees, which Petinrin described as a model for future anti-kidnapping operations.
