Rotary District 9127 Launches Health Project in Abuja

Rotary District 9127 has intensified efforts to combat maternal and child deaths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by launching a maternal and child health project at the primary healthcare center in Sheritti, Kabusa, Abuja. The initiative aims to provide pregnant women with birth kits and health education to support safe deliveries.

Dr. Samuel Usman, the district chair for maternal and child health, stated that the project is designed to help expectant mothers survive pregnancy and childbirth while ensuring newborns receive necessary care for a healthy start.

The project includes distributing birth kits, promoting antenatal care, and raising awareness about routine childhood immunizations against diseases such as tuberculosis, measles, and yellow fever. District Governor Sikiru Adetona Owonikoko reaffirmed Rotary's commitment to improving maternal and child health, while Dr.

Kadijat Kuburat Yusuf called for increased government investment and collaboration with NGOs to address Nigeria's high maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
