Tottenham sells Luka Vuskovic to Brighton for £50m

Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the sale of 19-year-old Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic to Brighton for a record fee of £50 million, making him the most expensive player to depart the club without having played a single competitive fixture for the first team. Brighton will pay an initial £46 million, with an additional £4 million in add-ons, and Tottenham will retain a 20 percent sell-on fee for any future transfer.

Vuskovic made three appearances for Tottenham during pre-season friendlies after arriving from Hajduk Split in 2023 but did not break into the senior team. His development primarily occurred during a loan spell at Hamburg, where he impressed and earned a place in the World Cup squad for Croatia.

The £50 million transfer fee will provide new Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi with funds to reshape his squad ahead of the new season, raising concerns among Tottenham fans regarding the club's long-term strategy and the potential loss of young talent.
