Ex-Foreign Minister Malanji Jailed for Corruption, Assets Seized

Former Zambian Foreign Minister Malanji has been sentenced to four years in prison for alleged corruption. Malanji, who served under President Edgar Lungu from 2018 to 2021, faced charges related to procuring property using criminal proceeds, including two Bell helicopters and a hotel in Kitwe.

The Zambia Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) revealed that Malanji used suspected criminal funds to renovate a hotel and purchase a helicopter. The court also found Malanji guilty of facilitating a questionable money transfer during his tenure.

The conviction highlighted Malanji's accumulation of assets through illicit means, leading to his imprisonment.
