Timipre Sylva Resigns from APC, Criticizes Tinubu's Rule

Timipre Sylva, the former Governor of Bayelsa State and ex-Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as of August 31, 2026. In his resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman in Ward 4, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Sylva accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of abandoning the foundational principles of the party.

He expressed deep disappointment in the current government, stating it has failed to meet the expectations of most Nigerians. Sylva, a founding member of the APC, noted that he could no longer remain in a party that he believes has strayed from its core values.

His resignation comes amid ongoing legal troubles, including allegations from the Federal Government regarding an alleged plot to overthrow the Tinubu administration. The Department of State Services has also implicated several of Sylva's aides in this matter, further complicating his political situation.
