Odemwingie Questions Nigeria's World Cup Prospects

Former Super Eagles forward Peter Odemwingie raised concerns regarding Nigeria's chances of winning the FIFA World Cup due to the increasing trend of players of Nigerian descent choosing to represent other nations, such as England and France. In an interview with Brila FM, Odemwingie, who made his international debut for Nigeria in 2002 and previously played for West Bromwich Albion, noted that several high-profile players, including Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Tammy Abraham, Noni Madueke, and Michael Olise, have opted to represent European nations instead of Nigeria.

He attributed this trend to familial influences and changing attitudes among younger players, warning that Nigeria risks losing its best talents. Odemwingie remarked that the entire football squad of England showcases Nigerian genes, which could hinder Nigeria's chances of winning the World Cup.

Despite his concerns, he expressed optimism that future players might choose to represent Nigeria, potentially aiding the country in achieving World Cup success.
