Ex-Minister Aliyu Idi Hong Defects to APC in Adamawa

Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, who previously served as the Minister of State for Health and later as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has formally defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The formal defection occurred on Saturday in his home ward in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Hong described the situation within the PDP as a "sinking ship," asserting that a mass exodus from the party is imminent and that remaining in the PDP would be akin to committing political suicide.

His remarks come amid speculation that the current governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, may also defect to the APC in the near future. Fintiri has maintained a firm grip on the PDP since assuming office on its platform in 2019.

The APC chairman in Adamawa State, Idri Shuaibu, welcomed Hong's defection and urged him to bring goodwill to the APC family.
