Ex-PDP Candidate Bande Joins ADC in Kebbi State

Maj. Gen. (retd) Bande, who previously ran as a governorship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

His formal membership with ADC was received on Monday at the party's state secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, where he was welcomed by the state chairman, Sufiyanu Bala, and issued a membership card. Bande had tendered his resignation from the PDP in a letter addressed to the party's ward chairman in Nasarawa Ward, Birnin Kebbi, with immediate effect from the date of his resignation letter, which was dated Sunday.

He explained that his decision to leave the PDP followed extensive consultations with political associates and stakeholders, reflecting on the political future of Kebbi State and Nigeria. Although Bande did not disclose his next political destination, his resignation letter was confirmed by the ADC secretariat, and he is expected to contest in the 2023 governorship elections in Kebbi State, where the PDP lost to the incumbent governor, Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
