Owi Denies Involvement in Attack on Odigie-Oyegun's Home

On Tuesday, an attack occurred at the residence of John Odigie-Oyegun, the national leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), during a political event welcoming Labour Party's Edo 2024 governorship candidate, Olumid Akpata. Sir Rowland Owi, the former Chief Whip of the Senate, publicly distanced himself from the incident, emphasizing his long-standing political career built on dialogue and integrity.

He condemned any suggestion that he or his associates sponsored the attack, which he described as an insult to the intelligence of Edo people. The ADC's state chairman, Kennedi Odion, blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the attack, while APC chairman Jarret Tenebe pointed fingers at factions within the ADC.

The attack involved gunmen who stormed the ADC secretariat, causing injuries to party members and damaging property. The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation, although no arrests have been reported as of Wednesday.
