Former SSS Director-General Albert Horsfall Passes Away

Albert Horsfall, who served as the Director-General of the State Security Service and was the pioneer Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, has died. His passing was announced in a statement released on Friday, signed by his son, Donald Horsfall.

The family described him as a “beloved patriarch” whose transition occurred peacefully. They expressed gratitude for his remarkable life dedicated to God, family, community, Rivers State, and Nigeria.

Horsfall was recognized as an illustrious son of the Niger Delta and a distinguished public servant, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, wisdom, and selfless service. He was a founding father of Rivers State and made invaluable contributions to its growth and development.

The family stated that details regarding his burial would be communicated in due course. Horsfall held several significant positions, including Chairman of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission.
