Lagos Begins Pension Payment for Retired Worker Odesanya

The Lagos State Government has commenced the pension payment process for Michael Odesanya, a retired Chief Administrative and Human Resources Officer of Kosofe Local Government, following a report by PUNCH published on August 9, 2026. Odesanya, who retired at Grade Level 14 after 30 years of service, had expressed financial struggles due to the delay in receiving his retirement benefits, as the government had not acknowledged his retirement five months post-retirement.

The Lagos State Local Government Service Commission issued a letter dated August 10, 2026, confirming that Odesanya's retirement was approved by the Head of Service on July 30, 2026, with a retrospective effect from March 13, 2026. The commission commended Odesanya for his contributions to the Unified Local Government Service and stated that his retirement notice would be published in the official Gazette.

Odesanya expressed gratitude to PUNCH for bringing attention to his situation, noting that while the approval was a significant step, the process was not yet complete.
