MTN Nigeria Celebrates 25 Years with Y’ello Street Museum

MTN Nigeria marked its 25th anniversary by unveiling the Y’ello Street Museum, which reflects the evolution of telecommunications in Nigeria since the company began commercial operations in 2001. The museum features historical mobile phones, advertising campaigns, and cultural references that resonate with Nigerians' experiences over the past quarter-century.

MTN's journey began under President Olusegun Obasanjo, who facilitated the liberalization of the telecommunications sector and the issuance of GSM licenses. Subsequent administrations, including those of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Muhammadu Buhari, saw the establishment of mobile communication as integral to daily life, with significant advancements in internet and data usage.

The launch of 5G technology in 2022 marked a technological milestone for MTN, which continues to evolve under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focusing on fintech, fibre, cloud services, and digital infrastructure.
