Kwankwasiyya Movement Challenges Kano Government on Road Project

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has challenged the Kano State Government to clarify its reported decision to suspend and relocate a federal constituency road project in the Ungogo/Minjibir Federal Constituency. In a statement issued on Tuesday by spokesperson Dr. Habib Mai Lemo, the movement expressed concern that residents should not lose access to development projects due to political reasons.

Mai Lemo emphasized that the Kano State Government must provide a clear explanation for the perceived differential treatment of projects facilitated by opposition lawmakers. He argued that all federal constituency projects should be treated equally, regardless of the sponsoring lawmaker's political affiliation.

The movement also raised issues regarding the suspension of three councillors in Kano Municipal Local Government Area over project implementation allegations, asserting that these councillors disputed the claims against them. Additionally, they noted the suspension of two councillors from Tarauni Local Government Area, alleging it was due to their association with the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

The movement called for an independent review of these cases and the protection of citizens' rights to express political opinions.
