Kwankwasiyya Movement Claims Government Caused Yahaya's Resignation

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has accused the Kano State Government of interfering in the operations of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), leading to the resignation of its chairman, Saidu Yahaya. Spokesperson Habibu Mohammed stated that Yahaya resigned due to being obstructed from fulfilling his responsibilities independently, particularly after raising concerns regarding local government funds and expenditures.

Mohammed indicated that Yahaya's affiliation with the Kwankwasiyya Movement complicated his position, as his inquiries were perceived as a threat to government officials. He alleged that the government frustrated Yahaya's efforts to avoid exposure of potential wrongdoing within the administration.

Yahaya chose to resign rather than operate in an environment that compromised his ability to perform his statutory duties. His resignation was reported on Wednesday, although neither Yahaya nor the Kano State Government has publicly confirmed the reasons behind it.

Abdullahi Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, was contacted for a government response but had not provided one by the time of reporting.
