Kwankwasiyya Movement Challenges Kano Govt on Road Project

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has raised concerns regarding the Kano State Government's alleged suspension and relocation of a federal constituency road project in the Ungogo/Minjibir Federal Constituency. In a statement issued on Tuesday by spokesperson Dr. Habib Mai Lemo, the Movement demanded an explanation for the reported suspension, arguing that residents should not be deprived of development projects due to political affiliations.

They questioned whether projects facilitated by opposition lawmakers are being treated differently and insisted that the Kano State Government provide a clear rationale for any administrative interventions. Additionally, the Movement expressed concern over the suspension of three councillors in the Kano Municipal Local Government Area, who disputed the allegations against them, and the suspension of two councillors from Tarauni Local Government Area, which they claim was due to their association with the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

Mai Lemo stated that targeting councillors for their political stance would constitute a serious violation of democratic principles.
