Explosion at US Embassy in Oslo, Norway, Investigated

An explosion rocked the US Embassy in Oslo, Norway, early on Sunday, occurring around 1:00 AM local time (0000 GMT). According to a statement from the Oslo police department, the blast hit the entrance of the embassy's consular section.

Police spokesperson Michael Dellemyr confirmed that there was minor damage and no injuries reported. The cause of the explosion is currently unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

The police received several reports of the explosion shortly after it occurred and deployed a significant presence to the area, including bomb squads, police dogs, drones, and helicopters. A 16-year-old named Edvard, who was watching television at the time, described hearing a loud blast and initially thought it was a house explosion.

The area around the embassy was cordoned off, and police stopped vehicles from approaching. While the US Embassy is on high alert due to tensions in the Middle East, there is no indication that this incident is connected to ongoing conflicts.
