Enugu State Bans Task Force Operations on Highways

The Enugu State Ministry of Transport has issued a ban on traffic task force operations on federal highways within Enugu Metropolis to address the issue of extortion by impostors posing as enforcement officials. This decision was made following reports of individuals harassing and extorting motorists, which has tarnished the ministry's image.

Kenneth Aniebonam Ugwu, the Minister of Transport, stated that the ministry is taking steps to contain the situation by constituting a special team tasked with identifying and apprehending those behind these illegal operations. Recent arrests have been made concerning individuals accused of extorting motorists in various parts of Enugu Metropolis, and these suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
