Enugu Police Seize 195 Vehicles for Number Plate Violations

The Enugu State Police Command has seized 195 vehicles due to violations related to vehicle registration and number plate regulations. This enforcement action was disclosed in a statement issued late Tuesday by the command's spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukw.

The operation, supervised by Commission of Police Mamman Giwa, is part of a nationwide initiative to ban unregistered vehicles and address issues such as defaced, obscured, or improperly affixed number plates. Vehicle owners found in violation will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The command highlighted that this operation aligns with the provisions of national road traffic regulations. Commission of Police Giwa urged motorists to fully comply with vehicle registration requirements to avoid legal consequences.

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has mandated strict enforcement of the ban on unregistered vehicles, citing security risks associated with improperly identified vehicles. Additionally, Giwa cautioned officers against extortion and misconduct during enforcement, warning of disciplinary actions for those found culpable.
