Enugu Police Enforce Traffic Laws to Curb Violations

The Enugu State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has issued a directive for the immediate enforcement of traffic laws across Enugu State. This decision follows a notable increase in traffic violations by motorists, resulting in gridlock, road crashes, loss of lives, and property damage.

The directive aligns with the nationwide enforcement initiative led by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu. CP Giwa has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, the command’s Legal Officer, and the State Traffic Officer to ensure the professional enforcement of these laws.

Officers are cautioned to respect the rights and dignity of motorists during enforcement actions. Giwa urged all motorists, including police officers and security personnel, to familiarize themselves with traffic regulations to avoid prosecution.

The enforcement aims to restore order on Nigerian roads and enhance the safety of all road users.
