FAAN Restores Bolt Operations at Airports After Keyamo's Intervention

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has lifted its restriction on Bolt operations at airports, allowing passengers to access the e-hailing service again. This decision followed intervention from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, after numerous complaints regarding transport fare increases and inconvenience.

Keyamo announced on his X handle that he directed FAAN to resolve the issue. FAAN's statement, signed by Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, confirmed that constructive engagements between FAAN and Bolt led to an operational framework for Bolt to operate at FAAN-managed airports immediately.

The resolution comes after FAAN's ongoing efforts over nearly a decade to manage challenges related to commercial and e-hailing vehicles at airports, including safety and accountability concerns. FAAN introduced the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) to regulate airport car-hire services, clarifying that ACHRAMS is not a competitor to e-hailing platforms like Bolt and Uber.

FAAN also stated that recent discussions about taxi fares were not newly imposed by the authority.
